After his wife is assaulted, a husband enlists the services of a vigilante group to help him settle the score. Then he discovers they want a 'favor' from him in return. In New Orleans, English teacher of the high school Rampart High, Will Gerard, and his wife, musician Laura Gerard, are in love with each other. One night, Laura leaves a rehearsal and is assaulted, while Will is playing chess with his friend Jimmy. Will is visiting her in hospital when, out of the blue, a stranger named Simon tells him that he belongs to an organization of vigilantes and offers to eliminate the assailant. In return, the organisation would want a favor from Will in the future. Will agrees, and the criminal is murdered. Six months later, Simon collects his debt with Will. He demands that Will kill Alan Marsh, a pedophile. Will accidentally kills Alan and soon he learns that the victim was an awarded journalist that was investigating the organization. Now he seeks evidences to prove his innocence but the network of the organization is powerful and is seeking Will out to eliminate him. OK, so when I read the blurb for this film, I thought, hmmmmm I'm quite up for this thriller, despite it starring the worst actor known to mankind. I gave it a go and corr blimey it was awful. BORINNNNGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG. Not only is the film incredibly predictable, but the acting is disgustingly bad and the dialogue is embarrassing. The plot has more holes than a tramps sock. My nan could give a better performance than Cage and all respect for Guy Pearce has gone out the window after this one. Only watch this either if you need to doze off or you are insanely stupid and require no mind stimulation.<br/><br/>AWFULLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL! I'm sure in light of all the little criticisms, whatever, from Ebert or others, the writer here has got all the angles, plot points covered. Much like a film I wrote, Seeking Justice was a film that had me from the start, involving a guy who's bumped off, which made me recollect that scene in Color Of Night, where a pushed car goes off the roof of a car park. Seeking Justice is a thoroughly entertaining film, where if you had to work out all the why's, how's, what's, if's, you'd wrack your crazy, and wouldn't be able to enjoy this movie at all. If you even did that after this movie, you'd go nutso. I love the interesting path this story takes, where more layers of it, develop. Nicholas's Cage's beautiful wife (Jones) who very much looked like that hot chick from Roadhouse 2 is raped by this podgy A list scumbag. She's beaten up pretty bad, evoking quite a rage in our Will (Cage, who plays dramatic roles really good) He's approached by Simon, (yes that's Guy Pearce, again in solid form, bald and all, outshining Cage, sorry Nic). This menacing stranger, offers Will a chance to exact revenge, by giving him a green light to have this scumbag killed. Apparently, Simon knows where he lives. It's a go, and the scumbags' killed. Now what begins, on what is such a painfully predictable path, is that Simon wants something in return, so I'll leave it there, as I really want to give away the story. Cage is really good, Jones is beautiful, but like I said, Pearce knocks it out the ball park, with easily the best performance in the film. Though not without faults, this straight to DVD pic absorbs the viewer the more the movie progresses. I quite enjoyed this one, Cage doing a few straight to DVD, must watch pics around this time. He is a highly criticized actor, nominated for Raspberry awards he just shouldn't be nominated for. He's always good and never disappoints, no matter the project. He's a really good actor, cause he's a brave actor, and will take it all the way. Just go back through his filmography to Valley Girl, where there he showed the same uninhibited bravado. The lead up to climactic finish in this supercharged film is thrilling and exciting. What's I really liked about Seeking Justice, is you don't know what surprise, the next opening door will bring or will take you, but primarily the exciting surrounding set up; thick plotting of story concerning character's motivations. Seeking Justice is an intense thriller so full of shocks it keeps you wired from start to finish.
